March 2020: TamPro's COVID-19 Status

Along with most of the intelligent world, we are on what we hope is a temporary hiatus from all performances as we practice 'sheltering-in-place' during the COVID-19 pandemic.  It sure ain't any fun, but it also beats the alternative so we encourage you to do likewise and stay safe.  Stay tuned!

March, April and May 2020: New Live Videos!

David posted some live videos of songs recorded from his winter digs in Florida that you can find at #songsofcomfort or on David Reed's Facebook page.  Check 'em out and let him know what you think.  Also, you might consider purchasing or downloading one of David's or The Introv3rts' recordings on CDBaby, iTunes, Amazon, Spotify and many other music sites - that way you can still hear the music, AND support the TamPro musicians who could really use the money now!

July 2020: David Undergoes Hand Surgery

For over a dozen years, David has endured the gradual ravages of a genetic condition known as Dupuytrens Contracture.  This is a disorder of the hand in which the tendons, over time, contract and pull the fingers towards the palm of the hand into a distorted 'claw' and large pads of skin form on the palm and under the finger joints.  Needless to say, this is NOT an ideal situation for a guitarist and instrument maker!

The sometimes painful condition seriously impacted his left hand's span and range of motion, thus making playing guitar more and more, shall we say, "challenging".  It was simply a matter of time before the surgical solution had to be done, and due to COVID's negative impact upon his performance schedule, the time had arrived.  The process involves 'day surgery' and at least two months of physical therapy...and it renders the one-handed patient quite cranky. nearly useless and seriously bored. Life for this Lefty has gotten much more complicated.  But, the prognosis is very good and he's been told that he'll be playing his instruments better than ever in a couple of months.

August 2020: Surgical Update

Even though Claudia has dubbed David "The English Impatient" due to his unrealistic expectation that he should be able to already do handstands (though he never could do handstands) and play guitar for hours - one month post-surgery!  His hand is healing, albeit slowly, he has been able to play his instruments for up to an hour a day.  Several 'socially distant' gig offers have come in during this time that have had to be refused, but hopefully COVID conditions will abate so that David and his cohorts can get back out and at it SOON!

As always, thank you for your interest and support, and we hope to see you at a show real soon!

Groove Music from the Caribbean to the Delta!”

IN 2020, David Reed & Tamboura Productions celebrates 31 Years of creating always distinctive, diverse and high-quality artistic entertainment, recordings and hand-made musical instruments for music lovers of all ages.

BEGINNING in 1989 with the combined vision and talents of multi-instrumentalist/vocalist/songwriter David Reed and percussionist Armando Zanecchia's exotic (and quixotic!) interpretations of contemporary folkrock, blues and world-beat music, the fledgling DuoTamboura (taking its "Tamboura" moniker from the Caribbean island of Dominica's “drum of the merengue”) organically expanded - sometimes to 7 members! - earning an endearing (and enduring) reputation for being the only Caribe-vibe dance band in the Berkshire Hills of western Massachusetts...and way beyond.

OUR ADVENTURES have taken David Reed and various musical permutations through time and space to festivals and venues throughout East Coast USA, the Caribbean, Italy, Switzerland, England...even Bulgaria!  Little did we know at the time what a journey we had embarked upon, gathering fantastic musicians and experiences along the way!

WE INVITE YOU to peruse the pages of our website. Get acquainted with us by reading our bios, sampling our Audio & Video Clips, and viewing glimpses of our travels and adventures in the FotoGalleria.  Visit the Dry Ducks General Store for our recordings - including our latest release, "Gypsy Davy" - hand-made shakers, cigar box instruments from Dr. Ea$y's Sonic Boxes and cigar box lighting from Dr. Ea$y's Man Cave Lighting Co.  Or, read some of David Reed's and Dr. Ea$y's (mostly) light-hearted stories and essays in Blogwash.

BETTER YET, come on out to a live show...we'd love to meet you! We think you'll enjoy what you find under our virtual Big Red Umbrella. We believe once you do, you'll come back for more!

And to our families, fans and friends, THANK YOU for supporting David Reed, Tamboura Productions and Dry Ducks Records over the past 31 years!

Cheers!

- David Reed
